Buttermilk Belgian Waffles

Equipment

  • Belgian Waffle Maker
  • 2 medium mixing bowls
  • Whisk

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbs sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup butter (melted)
  • 2 eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • In medium bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • In other medium bowl, whisk buttermilk, butter, eggs and vanilla extract.
  • Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, whisk until combined. Do not over-whisk. Let batter rest for 10 minutes.
  • Heat the waffle iron, brush iron with some vegetable oil. I use #2 setting in the Cuisinart Belgian waffle maker.
